The best clay masks

For oily/combination skin

1 tbsp. white clay;

2 tbsp. water or milk (oily or normal/combination skin);

0.5 tsp. honey;

1-2 drops of rose-hip/rosemary/tea tree oil.

Mix the clay powder with the liquid components. If the mixture is too thick, you can add water or milk. Apply the mixture to your face. Leave it on for about 10 minutes.

For dry or sensitive skin

1.5 tsp. pink/green clay;

1.5 tsp. kaolin;

1 tbsp. rose water;

1.5 tbsp. aloe (gel);

2 drops of rose oil (can be replaced with lavender).

Mix the two types of clay first, then add aloe, water and essential oil. Apply a thin layer, rinse off after drying.

For acne-prone skin

1 tbsp. blue clay;

1-2 tbsp. water;

1 tbsp. crushed oats;

3 drops of tea tree oil.

First mix the oats with the clay, then add the liquid components. Apply the mixture in a thin layer. Wait until it dries (no more than 10 minutes). The mask will reduce inflammation, reduce the oiliness of the skin, and help reduce post-acne scars.

For pigmented skin

1 tsp. red clay;

1 tbsp. medium-fat sour cream;

2-3 raspberries.

Crush the berries into a mousse, mix with sour cream, and add the mixture to the clay. Mix thoroughly. This is an excellent mask for combating age spots, and helps refresh skin with signs of ageing.

If you don’t want to look for and prepare suitable components for the mask yourself, use a win-win option — ready-made clay masks.

Cosmetologist's advice

Finally, a couple of valuable tips to make the clay mask as effective as possible:

For those with oily skin, it is recommended to use only herbal infusions or water in the mask;

Milk is an excellent alternative to water - it will help remove the feeling of tightness;

It is not recommended to leave the mask on for more than 15 minutes;

After washing off the mask, it is recommended to additionally cleanse the face with a toner and apply a cream with a moisturising effect;

Do not use metal utensils to mix the components - the metal will react with the clay.
